hello my fellow book hoes

The Book Club for Book Hoes had its first meeting in August 2022 where we met in Central Park amongst a bunch of bookish strangers to chat about books. What started as a “summer hobby” turned pretty quickly into a massive side hustle. After a year of book clubs and bookish events, I couldn’t deny there was a true community here of committed hoes for a good book. In November 2023, I quit my full-time actually-paying job to pursue this adventure in full.

We currently have six book clubs (five in-person and one virtually) that meet monthly. We also host 1-2 literary-themed events a month and have reading challenges throughout the year. The next step in this journey is to open a bookstore so we can have a place of our own.

In this Substack, you’ll find lots of resources to debut novels, as our book club only reads and supports debut authors. All our reviews will be made available to free subscribers. Paid subscribers for $5 a month will also receive access to the Bookstore Odyssey blog which will narrate the journey of opening the bookstore and all the work being done, as well as other posts regarding behind-the-scenes information and fun updates about book club.
